Description
A long time former winemaker at Tyrrell’s, Andrew Thomas has long been regarded as one of the Hunter Valley’s leading winemakers. With a focus on the region’s hero varietals; Semillon and Shiraz, Thomas regularly delivers highly acclaimed benchmark examples. Thomas The OC Semillon is produced from the famous Oakey Creek Vineyard in Pokolbin, which was planted in 1976 on a sandy/ loam strip along Oakey Creek Road.Â
The 2023 Thomas The OC Semillon has a glowing green/ gold hue and the nose is a blistering delivery of classic Hunter Semillon character; tangy citrus flavours, a steely mineral vein and a hint of grassiness overlay gentle, green tropical fruit characters. The palate is restrained yet powerful with a crisp phenolic nip adding textural complexity and framing a spine of acidity. It’s linear and focussed, with plenty of intensity and delicious, tangy length.
